One Night Stand

A one night stand is where two people have a sexual encounter, where there is no expectation of establishing a romantic relationship.
Hooking up for one night with no strings attached and hoping to never see them again ... If you do it, it is important not to exchange any personal info with them so they can't track you down and stalk you later.

Many people meet potential partners in bars, nightclubs and dating websites for these increasingly common one night stand affairs.

According to a 2005 Durex Survey, 44 per cent of adults worldwide have had a one night stand. Australians came on top - a huge 60 per cent of Aussies surveyed admitted to a carefree night or two.

A report by the American Psychological Association stated that both men and women engage in casual one night encounters because they are physically attracted to the other person.
Men are more likely to carry out the sexual encounter knowing they have no interest in continuing the relationship with the women, while women tend to choose partners who may provide a future relationship.
Whether intentional or not, a one-night stand can be invigorating or shameful and regretful.

Many poeple treat the one night stand as the chance to do something wild, something they would probably never do with someone in a relationship with.

Men and women both should carry a condom in case they participate in a one night stand to survive the physical consequences of sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS and pregnancy.

It is common to feel a bit of guilt and shame the next morning, particularly for women.

Learn from your mistakes. If you do not like how you felt after a one night stand, do not have another one. Learning a lesson is a valuable tool and can help you deal with the guilt following the encounter.
